Service Description

Head into the heart of the Mojave Desert for a 2-day guided adventure across California's iconic high desert. You'll drive out to explore ancient volcanic lava tubes, wander the historic Kelso Depot, and camp beneath Kelso Dunes You'll see towering sand dunes that rise nearly 650 feet and are known for their "booming" sound underfoot. On day two, you'll hike (and optionally sandboard) up the dunes before heading home. Expect warm days and cool desert nights, wide-open silence, and skies with little light pollution — perfect for stargazing through a telescope around the campfire. The terrain ranges from soft sand to rugged volcanic rock, so sturdy footwear and sun protection are a must. Along the way, you may spot desert bighorn sheep, roadrunners, and the desert's namesake Joshua trees scattered across the landscape. Meals are shared as a group, camp is set up together, and cell service is limited. So come ready to disconnect, breathe in the open desert air, and experience a rugged, awe-inspiring side of California few people ever see.
